Last winter, my girlfriend and I wrote holiday cards to every member of our NBA Fantasy Basketball team. Steve Nash, Ben Wallace, Gilbert Arenas, Ben Gordon, Manu Ginobili, Dwight Howard, Mehmet Okur, Josh Howard, and even our scrubs like Monta Ellis all got nice hand-written messages from us thanking them for helping us to #1 in our league.
Besides cheering them on, we also encouraged them to help us in statisical categories that we were lacking in (usually free-throw percentage.)
My thumb was messed up, so my girlfriend had to write them out. She has old-fashioned script so I'm sure it looked like a 70 year old couple penned these letters.
It was a lot of fun, but nobody replied. We sent them care of the team so who knows how many of them made it through. Most of those guys probably more into using email (Gilbert has a hilarious blog) than reading actual letter...so maybe the interweb is the way to get in touch with them in the future.
Here's a scan of the one we sent to Ben Wallace... I might post more in the future.
